BOOK RELEASE // HOME NOT SHELTER! – gemeinsam leben statt getrennt wohnen
Housing is not only a question of accommodation, but a right that is fundamental for social integration. In light of the latest wave of migration, it is therefore not merely a case of accommodation in shelters or reception centers, but much more about developing long perspective social housing strategies.
Prof. Ralf Pasel and his chair CODE from TU Berlin are founding partners of the international university collaboration Home not Shelter! and have worked in the field of housing from the perspective of architecture and urban planning to meet the complex requirements of an increasingly diverse society.

Competition Innstadt Brewery Passau, 1st prize
The project will convert the former Innstadt brewery complex into a lively, urban neighbourhood. The housing area also comprises offices and commercial spaces, as well as various gastro-spaces. The preservation of historical monuments and the overall landscape design connects the projects into its ecological, natural surrounding on one side and the urban tissue on the other. The urban connections are established by means of a network of footpaths and a sequence of public squares and astonishing views towards the medieval city of Passau.

Book Release // CITY AND WIND – Climate as an Architectural Instrument
City and Wind – Climate as an Architectural Instrumentis a call to see architecture not just as a means of protecting us against the climate, but also as a way of bringing us back to it.
In the course of the last fifteen years the debate on sustainable architecture and ecological urbanism has risen like a phoenix from the ashes. Architects and urban planners, as well as administrative bodies and developers, face a new responsibility in terms of the complexity of their conventional design and planning methods.
