City and Wind – Climate as an Architectural Instrumentis a call to see architecture not just as a means of protecting us against the climate, but also as a way of bringing us back to it.
In the course of the last fifteen years the debate on sustainable architecture and ecological urbanism has risen like a phoenix from the ashes. Architects and urban planners, as well as administrative bodies and developers, face a new responsibility in terms of the complexity of their conventional design and planning methods.

The idea of architecture bringing us back to climate, rather than simply shielding us from it, is especially compelling. “CITY AND WIND” suggests that wind can be treated as an active design element instead of an environmental force to exclude.

The idea of treating climate as an architectural instrument rather than merely a threat is compelling. I especially like the call to use buildings to reconnect us with wind and other natural forces, not simply shield us from them.
